Before you pour in Aurora
Aurora's rules, in plain terms.
Every town sets its own rules. Here's what Aurora asks for, so you know before you call.
Every driveway needs a permit
All driveways need a city permit, and so do patios or parking pads connected to a driveway. A backyard patio that isn't connected to the driveway doesn't.
The right-of-way is licensed work
Aprons, public sidewalks, and curbs are in the city's right-of-way. Homeowners can't do that work; it takes a contractor with a City of Aurora Public Works license.

Aurora's concrete season
On Aurora's driveway permit, concrete is placed from the first Monday in April through the third Friday in October, weather permitting. Later pours need the City Engineer's written approval.

Width limits
A driveway in front of a garage can't be more than 2 ft wider than the garage door on either side, or wider than 20 ft for the first 5 ft of the front setback. Most lots get one curb cut.
